Today it is widely accepted that colour has the ability to affect one's mood , behaviour and emotional state.
The psychology of colour refers to the mental and emotional effects that colours have on people. There will always be variations in interpretation,meaning and perception between different cultures and although there are some very subjective areas to colour psychology , there are many accepted and proven elements.
Ones emotions and psychological state may be influenced by one's surroundings. Feeling of irritation or calm are often subconsciously initiated by one's surrounding colours.
In colour therapy, colour is associated with a person's emotions and how colour influences one's mental and physical state. For example, studies have shown that some people on viewing red will experience and increase in heart rate.
Concepts of colour psychology can be applied to every day life, in particular in one's home environment .
